Hardware

Boards designed for connected dispensing equipment

We design the electronics inside the machine as well as the cloud behind it: motor and valve control, power, and the link to a Linux head unit with a touchscreen. Telemetry and remote updates are built in, not bolted on.

Dispense control

NTap controller

Drives pumps, valves and sensors on the machine, and talks to the rest of the system over CAN bus. Boards identify their own position on the bus, so a machine is wired correctly by construction.

Power distribution

NTap Power In design

Smart 24 V distribution for the whole machine: generates the 12 V and 5 V rails, monitors every rail and reports over CAN. Designed so individual outputs can be power-cycled remotely.

Head-unit link

CAN interface

Connects the Linux head unit that runs the touchscreen and the telemetry agent to the machine bus.

Front panel

LED & button boards

Lighting, buttons and interconnects for the customer-facing side of the machine.

Platform

One stack, from the pump to the dashboard

  • Linux head unit running a managed OS image that is updated over the air
  • Local data store on the machine that buffers telemetry while the network is down
  • CAN bus between boards, built for multi-product machines with many pumps and valves
  • Telemetry agent that ships with every machine, ready to be switched on
